COUNTY ELECTIONS.

RESULT OF THE POLL.

The triennial elections in connection with the Cook and Waikohu County Councils took place yesterday. A fanamount of interest was evinced, especially in the Gisborne. Ami and Whataupoko ridings of the Cook County. Messrs G. Witters and Jones were returned for the Gisborne riding, Mr D. Parker for the Wliataupoko riding, Mr Fraser for the Pakarae riding, and Messrs Blake and Williams for the Arai riding. The polling was as- follows: GISBORNE (2 Members.)

The new Council will consequently consist of the following representatives: Messrs E. B. Boland and G. M. Reynolds, Tologa Bay (elected unopposed), Geo. Witters and G. E. Jones, Gisborne; D. J. Parker, Whataupoko; T. Holden, Pouawa (elected unopposed), H. Ivenway, Waimata '(elected unopposed), T. Eraser, Junr, Pakarae, F. J. Lysnar, Hangaroa (elected unopposed), T. Jex-Blake, C. H. Williams, R. Sherratt, Patutahi (elected unopposed). The Manutuke returns were not available last evening, but they are not expected to affect the result. The result of the Waikohu County elections is as follows: TE KARAKA (One Member).

The following will constitute the new Council: —Messrs W. D. S. MacDonald and A. Mortlemann, Motu; A. M. Lewis, Te Karaka; M. H. Campbell and A. Hegarty, Mangatu; H. Telford, Kanakanaia, and E. M. Hutchinson, Ngatapa /(elected unopposed).
