“ REINCARNATION.”

LECTURE AT HIS MAJESTY’S,

Miss Christie, the theosophist lecturer from Madras, India, delivered' the first of a series of lectures before a large audience at His Majesty’s Theatre last, night. His Worship the Mayor (Mr W. Pettie) presided. The lecturer, who is a fluent and able speaker, dealt with the subject of Reincarnation in an interesting manner. She maintained that reincarnation was the only logical theory to hold with regard to the evolution of mankind.. li* the theory of reincarnation was rejected, then this lifo was not worth living. The baby was defrauded, and great cruelty was inflicted on old men who had worked hard to attain qualities and virtues that were not needed in heaven. If this was the only life, how unjust it would be to the slum child who was kicked and cursed to crime.’ In the theory of reincarnation there was hope for everyone. The drunkard and criminal in time became saints. Genius, she maintained, was the result of many lives of hard work on the part of tho ego himself, and'because of. that everyone would become a genius in time. Wo are not weak-willed, passionate because our parents have these qualities, but on returning wo go to parents who are like ourselves because they are tho only people who can give us a suitable body in which to express the character wo have made.

Miss Christie holds a public question meeting at Wootton’s Rooms at 8 o’clock this evening, when questions submitted either orally or in writing will bo answered.
