DIFFERENT MINDED MEN
(United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received November 13. 9.35 p.m.) SYDNEY. Nov. 13.
The- strike situation is becoming complicated. Some moil are prepared to work under the agreement conditions, and others only during certain hours. A large number assembled at Howard Smith’s wharf this morning, where they proposed to start unloading the steamer Mollina at six o’clock. When the call was made only eight responded. Two hours later the required number started. Interviewed the late starters stated they had held a meeting and decided not to work cargo before eight o’clock in the morning, and not after five at night Unless paid overtime rates.
MAHENO DELAYED.
MATTERS GETTING SERIOUS
(Received Nov. 14, 12.15 a.m.) SYDNEY. Nov. 33
The departure of the Maheno lias been postponed until noon on Thursday.
The wharf laborers knocked off at five to-night, and work ceased. The shipowners are firm in their refusal to allow them to re-start before 6.30. The men are equally determined net to work at night unless allowed to re-start at 6. The Union Company has now come into line with the other inter-State companies. The stoppage of night work is adding to the already seriously congested condition of the wharves. The companies are compelled to refuse much cargo.
