THE TURF
SOUTHERN SPORTING NOTES. [.SPECIAL TO TIMES. J CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 14. Vice Admiral lias been scratched for all Auckland engagements at the Christmas meeting, and it is probable that in the autumn he will pay another visit to Australia to compete in long distance events at Randwiek and Flemington. Last week’s form showed that staying is his strong point, and in races like the (Sydney Cup and Australian Cup he should shape well under reasonable weight. J. R. Franks has resigned his position as private trainer to Stead Bros, Since her vitcory in the Stead Gold Cup Counterfeit has been very lame, owing to a burst hoof, which had caused trouble prior to the meeting, but her trainer hopes to have her injury well again before long.
