TOO COLD FOR NUDE PSYCHE.
SCULPTOR WOULD REMOVE STATUARY FROM MUSEUM. (, 'I think this statue of Psyche should be removed. You know more dress is needed, even on statuary in this climate than in the old countries.” Such was the verdict of Franklin Simmons. the sculptor, in an inspection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts recently. His visit of inspection was brought abmit as a result of the numerous recent criticisms of the museum in showing a number of nude pieces in the public exhibition rooms. Simmons is a native of New England, but has lived in Italy for a number of years. Specimens of his work in portrait busts and ideal statues are on view in most of the large galleries of America. He has also done a number of public monuments for American cities.
