SUMMARY AND FORECAST

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 17. The winds have backed by west to a northerly direction, and increased generally. Haze arid cloudiness have spread, and rain has fallen in parts, especially on the west coast and southern districts of the South Island. The barometer is now low again in the- south. Present indication!:; -are for high and squally westerly winds generally,- with a 'falling barometer everywhere, but a- rapid rise will probably ta'ke place within forty hours with the winds veering to southerly. Cloudy and unsettled weather is anticipated, and thunderstorms in parts and rain is probable generally.
