RECEIVES NO FAVOR FROM MR ASQUITH.

The Premier, replying to a suffragette deputation, declined to introduce a measure conferring the franchise on the same terms as to men, because he did not believe it -was- demanded iu the country’s interest. The Government would yield if women persuaded the majority of the House of Commons to give the Vote. The deputation is dissatisfied, and announce that a demonstration will he made in Parliament Square on Tuesday. Sir Edward Grey, in the House of Commons, said that Miss Malecha was undoubtedly a Britisher in Britain, hut was a Russian in Russia. Therefore Britain was unable to interfere in the matter of her arrest.

Mr Asquith, replying to suffragettes, stated tllat he had personally never seen his way to support women’s suffrage, because he was unable to persuade himself it was good for the country. A majority of his colleagues favored women’s suffrage, but the Opposition was as much divided as the Ministerialists.. AN AMERICAN RESULT.

NEW YORK, Nov. 17

A newly enfranchised woman at Los Angelos complained to the city council of cock crowing, and threatened to leave the city unless the nuisance was compulsorily stopped. The Council drew up an ordinance banishing fowls.
