TIED HOUSES.

ABOLITION WANTED IN SYDNEY

(United Press Association—Copyright.) SYDNEY, Nov. 22.

In the Assembly Mr- Minalian moved in favor of the abolition of the tied house system. He asked for the appointment' of a Royal Commission to inquire into the subject. He declared that 99 per cent of Sydney hotels were tied. The real evil was that the brewers would not accent the payment of debts on hotels; 90 per cent of the hotelkeepers would settle with the brewers if given an opportunity. Other members enlarged on the growing evil of the system. Air. Bruntnell declared that many hotels were tied for everything except the sawdust on the floors. The debate was adjourned.
