BONA FIDE BUSINESS MEN SIGN PETITION AGAINST NO-LICENSE IN ASHBURTON.

ALL MASTER MEN. READ THIS: WE, THE UNDERSIGNED SHOPKEEPERS AND BUSINESS MEN OF THE BOROUGH OF ASHBURTON, HEREBY AFFIRM THAT THE CARRYING OF NO-LICENSE IN THIS DISTRICT HAS BEEN DISTINCTLY DETRIMENTAL TO OUR BUSINESS. WE ARE FAITHFULLY OF OPINION THAT RESTORATION OF LICENSED HOTELS WOULD BE BENEFICIAL TO ASHBURTON.

Here follows the signatures of 101 BONA FIDE BUSINESS MEN. REMEMBER, NO CLERKS OP. EMPLOYEES. BUT MASTER MEN. I, ARTHUR ROSE, Organiser d the Ashburton Restoration Committee, do solemnly and sincerely declare: — 1. THAT I have obtained 10L signatures to tk ■ above w: iitsni i-tatc-ments. ,2. THAT the said .signatures were appended to the said statements in my presence, and are the signaturs of bona fide shopkeepers and business moil in the Town of Ashburton, and I make this solemn declaration, conscientiously believing the same to he true, and under and by virtue of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, entitled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1908.” ARTHUR ROSE.

Declared at Ashburton aforesaid by the said Arthur Rose this 29th day of August, 1911, before me. T. E- UPTON, A Justice of the Peace and for the Dominion of N.Z. WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, hereby certifv that we have examined the signatures to the above written statements, and further, that the same are, to our knowledge, the names of 101 bon* fide shopkeepers and business men of the Borough of Ashburton.
