Sir John Findlay has resigned his seat in the Legislative Council. A SLANDER CASE. VERDICT FOR 40s. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 24. In the slander case heard at the Supreme Court to-day. in which Herbert C. Amos, storekeeper, of Doycleston, claimed £250 damages from John McLachlan, on© of the candidates for the Ashburton seat, after the evidence was heard, the jury awarded the plaintiff a verdict for 40s.
Judgment was given accordingly with costs on the lowest scale.
