The girls, owing to the introduction of the hobble skirt, and the consequent decrea.se in the demand for underskirts, have been (assigned to other work, ,u----which they declare they cannot earn a livng wage. The discontented 1 lianas went out on strike, and failing to reach a settlement, the firm declared a lockout. In the afternoon a meeting was held at which 000 girls joined the Federation of Women Workers, of which a branch was formed. At a meeting of the 1,200 Northampton hobble skirt strikers a majority of the girls held up hands in favor of returning to work.
