INQUEST DISCLOSES THAT WRESTLING MATCH HEADS TO FATAL ACCIDENT.
Accident during play Avas slkiaa-u at an inquest at Aldcrsot to have can&eo' th- death of Captain J. R. Clarke, Ist Norf'-lk Regiment, upon Avliom an mq •.•.’.st AA’as held. Lieut. J. P. Longfield. of the same regment, said that on Sep. 29 the officers Avere in the ante-room, arm there Avas some playing about, hut no dispute or ill-feeling. Captain Clarke, aalio Avas thirty-tAVO years of age and of good physique, suggested that the Avitness. should take him on his back and wrestle Avith another pair ~f officers.
The Ai'it ness agreed, and while they Avei i av rest ling lie and Captain Clarke fell backAvaxds- to the floor. Captain Clarke rose unassisted, but it Avas evident that the Avas badly hurt, and a doctor had him removed to the Ivsjiitai Avhere he died. All Avere perfectly sober. The jury returned a A r erdict of a, < cental death.
