AN IMPORTANT DISCOVERY.

MAGGOT CURE FOR CONSUMPTION. There is now a prospect of the claim that consumption can be cured by maggot fumes being given a fair trial in the Bradford district. Some time ago the medical officer to the West Riding County Council reported unfavorably on Mr. Bryant’s claims, and soon after the Ren holme District Council, in whose jurisdiction the “maggotorium” is situated, refused to pa so the plans for the erection of a sanatorium in connection therewith. Mr. Bryant has now had other plans prepared (states a, London contemporary) complying with some of the objections which the district council had made, and the district council have given their sanction to them. These plans provide sleeping shelters for 100 patients and a room over the maggot breeding-sheds, where some 300 patients can breathe, tho fumes rising through «. perforated floor. Thus this system will be given a trial under far better conditions, and in the meantime interest in the treatment is extending, Mr. Bryant has been asked to send a man to- Stonth Africa to superintend a maggot establishment there, inquiries have been received from America and Italy, whilst other maggotoria are being established in this country. Mr. Bryant hopes to give definite proof of the cures beforo long.
