A largely attended preliminary meeting was held to-night to form a local centre of the Sports Protection League. Delegates were present from practically all the Southland sporting bodies. Mr Paape, organising secretary, outlined the aims and objects of the League and effectively replied to adverse criticism. The Society was formed with a strong committee.
