TAKAPUNA SPRING MEETINC SEVERAL RACE:? POSTPONED.
(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 2. The Takapuna Jockey Club’s spring meeting was continued to-day in heavy rain, and the attendance was good, but after the fourth race, owing to rain, the remainder of the races was postponed. The sum of £7471 was invested on the totalisator for the four races. The result of the events decided is as follows:
Kawai Hurdles Handicap, 100 sovs., one mile and three-quarters.—Present-ly 9.10 (Julian) 1, Blue Mountain 9.9 2, Master William 9.6 3. Also' started: Don Quex 11.13, Bon Cyr 9.8, Lloyds 9.0. Kaiai 9.0, Mildura 9.0. Bon Cyr fell on the flat. AA 7 on by a length. Time: 3min 25sec. Stanley Handicap, 100 sovs, four torlongs.—Mighty Atom 8.4 (AVhittaker) 1, Miss Jewel 7.0 2, AVinkelin 7.12 3.
Also started 1 : Mahinga 8.7, Lady Dot 8.1, Elegance 7.6, Glad Tidings 7.5, Muskewai 7.2, Echo 7.0, Gibson Viz l 7.0. Won by a length. Time: 52 2-5. Spring Handicap, 150 sovs., 1 mile.— Blue Garment 6.13 (Stanning) 1, Wee Olga 7.13 2, Sir Artegal 9.0 3. Also started : Capt. Soult 8.8, Mahenoi 82, Splinter 7.13, Zinnia 7.12, Master Jack 7.7, Miss Livonia 7.3, Caledonian 6.7. Tlie slippery course w r as responsible for four horses coming down together, these being " Sphintu (Whittaker), Master Jack (Conquest), Malieno (Ryan) and Miss) Livonia (O’Shea). Blue Garment took the lead early, winning by a length and a-balf. Tlie others placed were close together. Time: linin' 48secs. Vauxliall Handicap, 100 sovs., seven furlongs.—La Reina 7.12 (AV. Percival) 1, Tiresome 8.2 2, Mamm.ua 7.7 3. Also started: Miss Ada 8.6, Master Line 7.8, Cloudy D’awn 7.7, Makura 7.7, Avalon 7.7, Rutter 7.7, Miss Jewel 7.7, Hesperian 7.7, Marie Regina, 7.7, Belle Crispin 7.7, Lenella 7.7 By this time the course was impossible for good racing, and 6 horses fell, Cloudy Dawn (Oliver), Avalon (Stockley), Rutter (S'. Brown), Miss Jewel (Hall), Lenella (Satman) Miss Ada (McFlinn). Won by half a length. Time: lmin. 35sees.
• BRISBANE SUMMER CUP. (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received Dec. 3; 5.5 p.m-) BRISBANE, Dec. 2. The Summer Cup, 15 miles, resulted: Bright Laddie 1, Bachelor of Arts 2, Loch Flavus 3. Fifteen started. Won by two lengths, with half a length between second and third. Time, 3min 3Jsec.
