ADVANCING ON TEHERAN,
RUSSIAN OCCUPATION.
“DEATH OR INDEPENDENCE” WANTED.

A procession of ten thousand banners, inscribed “Death or Independence, ’’ visited the British, American, and French Legations, and speeches were delivered appealing to the spirit of justice and liberty. Three prominent reactionaries were assassinated on Saturday. Sipahder’s life was attempted on Sunday. Two thousand 1 Russian troops arc thirty miles to the southward of Resht. Two hundred have arrived at Kazvin, and four hundred are near Teheran. Russians disarmed the- Persian militia at Resht, and occupied the telegraph office.
Ala-ed-Dowleh, the intermediary between, Russia, Britain, and Persia, persuaded Persia, to- comply with the fipst ultimatum and reply to the first ultimatum. The, reply to the second asks a renewal of negotiations with a view to conceding what is reasonable.
