THURSDAY COMPETITION

The Thursday competition was continued at Victoria Domain yesterday afternoon. when the weather was fine, but a strong nor’-westerly wind made matters somewhat ’unpleasant. —United B v. Y.M.C.A—

These teams met on the concrete pitch. United B batted first, and totalled: 158, Gibson (41). Seymour (39), P. Walker (15), and Lovett (11) were the run-getters. Harvey (three for 68), Auld (three for 40), and Wright (one for 10) secured the wickets for Y.M.C.A. The latter, who were three men short, made a poor stand. and were all dismissed for 61 in their first innings. Auld (17), Wright (15), and Bamicott (14) were the only batsmen to score runs. F. Walker and Gartshore were the successful bowlers for United.

This match was commenced on the turf wicket yesterday afternoon, Alhambra totalled 146. G. Harker played a free innings for 61, and J. Lang (24) and Tremblett (25) also batted well. Hall a more (five for 41) and Hind (two for 16) did the bowling for United. United A were three men short, and could onlv total 95 in their initial innings.
