ROWING.

GISBORNE CLUB. The committee of the Gisborne Rowing Club met last evening, when the following crews were picked to compete for the Morse trophies in the B grade double sculls: Donovan, Jones; Hutton, Dudson; Parson. Fyson; G. Winter, Scarfc; Quigley, Do’very; J- Adair, Sprague; Melville, Jo'ley'; Stevenson, Sweet; G. Fromm, Hennery; A. R. Gardiner, Gumming; D. Parker, H. Maynard; J. Richmond, W. P. Cammock; Haultain, E. C. Evans. The following were selected as strokes of crews to take part in the Buscke Fours: —Hamilton, Pycroft, Hansen. Tocker, Coleman. McConville, Gidly, G. Puflett. The additional members of the crews will bo picked this afternoon. The final for the Pet-tie Fours was rowed last evening, when P. H. Hamilton (stroke), S. T. Richards (3), P. Fromm (2), and L. Bright (hew) metP. McConville (•stroke). A. G. Garrard (3), C. Perry (2), and C. Wylie (bow).. An even start was effected, and after the first- few strokes Hamilton began to 1 forge ahead, and rounding t-lie bend had a lead of about- a length. At the Knits bridge Hamilton was still leading by over a length, where McConville began to spuit, but was unable to catch liis opponent, who gained the verdict by a length. In the final for Mr- B. S. Cox’s trophies, A. L. Winter (stroke), A. R. Gardiner (31, E. C. Evans (2), and W. R. Cam mock (bow) defeated D. Faram (stroke), G. Fromm (3), G Winter (2), and A. Quigley (b- w). At the startFa ram gained a slight- advantage, and after passing the bend had a lead of a length, but at the Tv-uti bridge Winter with a fine sprint caught up and took the lead, and eventually won by a length.
