A QUESTION OF RATING.

- W \IKOHU COUNTY'S PROPOSITION. The chairman of the "Waikohu County Council, Mr V. D. S MacDonald, H.P., mentioned the system of rating on unimproved values at yestei - dav’s meeting of the Council. He luad, he said, not gone into tho matter, but it had been suggested to him that the rating in the county could he mere equitably arranged, .and that the system of rating on unimproved values might- be considered. I ersonallv he thought the matter might bo gone into and its merits ascertained, and lie would suggest that a committee consisting of Crs. Hutchinson, Lewis and Telford he appointed to report at the next meeting of the Council. Qr. Hutchinson : Is any one dissatisfied with the present system of rating. Tho chairman said it was not necessary for thorn to take any steps m the matter that day, but that they might be called upon to give it their consideration at some future time. The matter then dropped.
