HOTEL DESTROYED
[pee. peess association.Q CHRISTCHURCH. Dec. 15. The Royal Hotel at Leithfield was totally destroyed by fire at 2.30 this morning. Mr Kilgour, the proprietor, lost everything, and narrowly escaped, with his Avife and family, in His night attire. The building was insured in the National Office for £550, and the furniture and stock for £450. A YOUNG CRIMINAL. BLENHEIM, Deo. 15. Harry Toon, 21 years, previously convicted for theft and forgery in the North Island, was sentenced by Mr Justice Sim to six months’ gaol and three years’ reformative treatment on a Charge of false pretences. NEW SHIPPING AGREEMENT. WELLINGTON, Dec. 15.
At a meeting of the Executive of the Noav Zealand Federation of Labour today, Messrs Webb (president) and Semple (organiser), along with representatives from Lyttelton, Avere appointed to meet the Union Company’s representatrves at- Dunedin on Tuesday next in connection with a ucav agreement for the Lyttelton Avatevsido Avcrkers. also for Westport, Timaru. and probably Wellington. The new agreement avill affect- wages and various details.
