POVERTY BAY CLUB

COMMITTEE MEETING

A special meeting of the. committee of the above Club was held in the Club House last evening. The following strokes were selected to row in the New Year Fours: J. Webb, W. G. Spencer, O. Hansem, V. Somervell, C. Clarke, J. W. Nicholas, J. Stewart, J. Corbett, W. A. Hall, and J. Prickett. Entries close this evening for the Burns. Trophy single sculling races. Messrs J. Webb and G. Douglas w~ere appointed handicappers for this event. D. S. Thompson was elected a new member. DITTHIE DOUBLE SCULLS. The semi-final in the Duthie double sculls was got off last evening,; C. Hail and G. King defeated J. Weston and P. Wild after an exciting race. Hail led most of the way, . and Weston sprinted when nearing the finish, but made his effort too late, losing by a length. , , _.• V. • Somervell and' D. Corbett beat O. Hansen and V. West. ... Somerville jumped away in the lead from the start and was successful. in maintaining, this to the -finish where a length separated the boats.

The final between V. Somerville and C- Hall will be rowed this afternoon at 5 p.m.
