NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS.

[per press association.] WELLINGTON, Dec. 22. In the two mile handicap at the evening sports meeting to-night G. N. Hill (Auckland) won' from scratch-in :9min 36 2-ssees., beating the New Zealand record by 5 4--ssecs. R. Opie won his heat in the 100yds event against a light wind in 10 2-ssecs, but did' not start in the final. In the two-mile walking event Ellis (Tasmania) beat Iverr. (N.Z.) by about 10 yards. The walking of all competitors., was not above question. The Australian visiting athletes were given, a civic reception this evening by the Mayor.
