DAVIS CUP TO-DAY.
PLAYERS IN GOOD FORM.
Rain fell last night, and the weather was "dull, with fine nain, to-day. The court for the Davis Cup contest, however, is in very fair order. It was covered against the rain last night. v The booking of seats has been very heavy, visitors coming from all parte of New Zealand, and many from Australia. The play starts for the singles at 2 o’clock to-morrow, when two matches will be placed. In the doubles one match wiil he played on Saturday afternoon,. probably about 4 o'clock. The remaining singles will be played on Monday afternoon.
All the players are in fine form. Wright and McLoughlin beat Fisher and Peacock very comfortably yesterday, showing consummate skill, while Dunlop and Brooks made no race with Wertheim and Kids ton, giving away only one game in three sets. Probably the doubles match for the Davis Cup will be treated also as the final for the New Zealand doubles championships.
