Bags and hampers received: 1910, 33,296; 1911, 37,964; forwarded: 1910, 50,214; 1911, 86,846. Telegrams received: 1910, 93,325; 1911, 99,408; transmitted: 1910, 139,785; 1911, 153,673. YOUTH FUL CRIMINALS. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan 3. Victor Smith and Edgar Moore, youths of about 18, pleaded guilty at. the Magistrate’s Court this morning to a long series of minor burglaries in the city. They were committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. PROSPECTS VERY PLEASING. AUCKLAND, Jan. 3. Trade in the city shops since Christmas has been brisk all round- Shopkeepers generally are well satisfied, and the managers of several big establishments said that the results were better than in previous years, and fully warranted the preparations made to cope with a big volume, of business. CHRISTCHURCH .BURGLARIES. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 3. Victor Smith and Edgar Moore, were charged before a Justice this morning with a series of burglaries, which have been perpetrated in the citv during December. The last named pleaded guilty to nearly all the charges, and was committed for sentence.
