THE WEATHER.
WARMER AND FAIR. [per PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Jan. 4. Heavy rain showers fell generally last night, and electrical disturbances occurred in some parts. The winds have since changed to southerly, and freshened, and the weather, though cooler, has impro ved to-d;ay. with a rising barometer. The forecast on present indications are for strong southerly winds, hacking to westerly and northerly soon. The weather will probably he warmer and fair for a short time generally, but changeable and showery conditions ai-e liikelv to prevail c-ii the West Coast and southern meet districts of the' South Island, and clcudv skies at times, elsewhere little change is anticipated in barometric pressure at present, but it is likely to decrease again after about 24 hours-.
