ANNUAL MEETING
[per press association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 4. The annual general meeting of tho New Zealand Institute of Surveyors was held to-day, Mr. Thomas Humphreys presiding. The annual report was adopted, and the election of officers resulted: Vice-presidents, J. W. Davis, J. W. Harrison; Councillors: F. A. Rich, C. H. Davis j Members: John Edie, R. E. Fry, L. G. R, Hunt, C. M. Honlt, J. P. Larking, G. A. Martin, R. M. Mclver, and A R Young; auditors: J. S. Welch and W. S. Wheeler. A lengthy discussion ensued on the scale of charges, in view of the large increase in 'the cost of labor and general charges etc, which have taken place since the present charges were arranged. It was a unanimous feeling amongst tho members that the scale should be revised, and it was resolved: “That a circular be sent to various local committees, asking them to submit to the Council a suggested scale of charges, suitable to their respective districts, such scale to be on the lines of the 1903 sccilo.** \ A statement in circulation that certain licensed surveyors have been signing plans made by irresponsible persons was discussed, and it was agreed that steps be taken to put a stop if possible to this reprehensible practice.
