THE JAPANESE SQUADRON.
THROWN OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. ADMIRAL GRATEFUL FOR HOSPITALITY. [per press association.] AUCKLAND, Jan. 6. The Japanese cruiser Soya- was thrown open to the public this afternoon, and the opportunity of visiting the warship was availed of by numbers. To-mor-row afternoon the flagship Aso will bo thrown open. Col. Boscawen, A.D.C., yesterday called upon Admiral Kato and, by direction of Lord Islington, invited him to visit Government House, Wellington. The Admiral, however, had to express regret at being unawni to accept the invitation, as the squadron sails on Monday for Sydney. The Admiral expresses delight and appreciation of the hospitality that- has been extended to himself, his -officers, and the men of the squadron during their stay in Auckland.
