THE WEATHER.
GISBORNE TIMES OFFICE. The following are the readings of the barometer m our office, taken at 2 a.xn. each day:—
Lper press association.! WELLINGTON, Jan. 15. Unsettled and showery weather prevailed in many parts on Saturday and Sunday with strong and squally westerly and northerly winds, which chang_ ed to southerly on Sunday with a rising barometer. The weather has since improved generally, and the winds have backed to westerly and northerly again, and in many parts strong to gale. In the southern districts to-day, where the barometer has fallen again present indications are for a , falling barometer, and increasing northerly and westerly winds strong to gale southwards of New Plymouth and Castlepoint. Warm and hazy weather will probably prevail, but cloudiness increase in and southwards of Cook Strait, for a low pressure is due shortly which is likely to bring unsettled weather in these parts, especially on the West Coast and southernmost districts of the South Island.
