THE GERMAN ELECTIONS.
SUCCESS OF THE CENTRE PARTY. NUMEROUS SECOND BALLOTS. [UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT] BERLIN, Jan. 14. Results of the elections so far to hand show the position to be: — Centre Party S 5 Socialists 66 Conservatives 35 Poles and Danes 16 ... National Liberals 6 There are 189 second ballots to be held. The Socialists are interested in 117, and the Radicals in 53. Of the number, the Socialists hope to win 40. They claim to have 57,000 votes in Berlin. They increased their vote in the provinces by 32 per cent. The socialists’ successes are largely at the expense of the Radicals and National Liberals. Much depends on the bargains for mutual support in the second ballots. The Catholic Centre party is unshaken at present. GERMAN SOCIALISTS CONGRATULATED. LONDON, Jan. 14. Mr Ramsay Macdonald has telegraphed to the German Socialists the congratulations of the British Labor party on the good news to all friends of international solidarity and peace.
