ENTERTAINMENTS.

PATHS PICTURES. The large audience which assembled in His Majesty’s Theatre last evening expressed itself as quite satisfied with the fare provided in the new programme submitted. The series includes a fair quantity of topical matter, the most striking of which is a. set of views of the wrecked French battleship Liberte. which was destroyed by the explosion of her magazine a few months a<;o. The tangled mass of debris which heaves up and dowtr on the gentle swell was all that was left of the immense fighting machine at the time the views were taken, and the spectacle is a most pathetic one. The Liberte, moreover, was not the only vessel to suffer, but the battleship Republique was also damaged by living wreckage and her wounds are also shown- The drama entitled “The Crucial Test” was an excellent example of the modern photo-play, and the setting is one which is throughout decidedly novel; The big item, however, was the colored representation of the historical drama, “A Foe to Richelieu,” which justified all that had been claimed for it. The histrionic talent is of remarkably high, standard, and the interpretation enhances the moral of the illustrious story. The film is of considerable length, and is arranged in two acts, and the coloring is tastefullv and delicately applied. Another item which found ready appreciation' was the film descriptive of the very clever display by Baker Bros., equilibrists, who show a marvellous dexterity in their turn. The series will be repeated this evening-
