PRIMITIVE METHODISM.

THE END OP THE CONFERENCE. I PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH. Jan. IS. The business of the Primitive Metlio- j I dist Conference concluded to-day. Re- i commendations from the public ques- j tion committee were adopted covering resolutions protesting against state- J ments by Roman Catholic speakers adversely criticising the leaders of reformation, also against the Ne Temere Decree and the action of the Catholic Church in interfering in public matters, with special reference to marching of the Government troops through the streets of Wellington in celebration the Roman Catholic anniversary. Satisfaction was expressed at the licensing poll figures. The conference declared there was opposition against sectarian teaching in state schools, and instructed the committee to report on the question of Bible reading in schools. It was' resolved that an expression ‘of alarm at the growth of gambling should bo passed. It was decided to urge the Minister of Defence not to authorise military training on Sunday, and to give ample opportunity for holding religious services in camps, and appoint Primitive'Methodist Chaplains. It was also agreed to co-operate with other Protestant churches in the L-ord's Day services. The Alliance Conference was regarded as one of the most important held in New Zealand, the question of union with the Methodist churches dominating the proceedings.
