[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION 4] WELLINGTON, Jan. 18. Rain has fallen in most districts, and (Strong and squally westerly and northerly winds blew in the night, but have changed to southerly in many parts today. The barometer has risen slightly in the far north, and on the west coast of the South Island to-day, but has been .very unsteady, with a slight falling tendency elsewhere. Present indications nre for high south Westerly winds generally, with squally and showery weather, probably much colder , and snow in some of the higher levels in the south. A rising barometer is anticipated everywhere.
