COACH RUNS AWAY.

PERILOUS DESCENT OF A HILL. HORSE FALLS AND BREAKS A LEG. Lper PRESS ASSOCIATION. 3 CHRISTCHURCH. Jan. 22. One of the West Oast coaches to-da v nearly met with a serious accident at Paddy’s Bend, where a serious- accident occurred a few weeks ago. The coach was descending a steep hill when the brake failed, and the horses galloped on. The coach swayed heavily, and the driver, R. Goodger, was thrown off. The horses continued their wild stampede until one fell and broke its leg. That " acted as a check and the coach was finally pulled up. Most of the passengers had dropped off before the driver fell, but none were seriously injured. The driver was rather badly cut about the head, and was brought to the Christchurch hospital.
