THAMES IRONWORKS TENDER. [united press association —copyright! LONDON, Jan. 28. Mr A. F. Hills, managing director of the Thames Ironworks Company, asked a meeting of the Thames ironworkers to sacrifice half of their November advance of wages in order that the company might secure the construction of two cruisers. Twelve hundrKl assented, there being only ten dissentients. The meeting was called apart from the trades unions. GLASGOW MEN OUT. Glasgow dockers unanimously resolved not to resumo work on Monday under conditions which the executive of the Union arranged with the masters, with a view to bringing Glasgow into line with Dundee and Liverpool. The strikers are communicating with other ports with a view to a sympathetic strike. ITALIAN FOUNDRYMEN STRIKE. BERLIN, Jan. 28Five hundred Italian foundrymen at Luxembourg havo struck, owing to the masters deducting the men’s contributions for invalidity insurance. They stormed the works and bombarded the police with bricks. The police fired a volley, killing three, mud seriously wounding six rioters. The soldiers restored order. AMERICAN PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN. NEW YORK, Jan. 28. Senator Champ Clark has announced Presidential nomination. He states no intends to stand on his own feet. Mr W. A. Hearst also intends seeking the Democratic Presidential nomiration.
