THE GOVERNOR’S CUP
[PER PRESB ASSOCIATION.'] HAMILTON, Jan. 30. At the Waikato Caledonian meeting, for the Governor’s Cup, for the competitor gaining the most points over the meeting. A. Campbell and V. Branson tied. It was agreed to run 440yds again, and after a tremendous struggle Campbell won by six inches. CONFERENCE OF DELEGATES. [per press association. 1 ] HAMILTON, Jan. 30. A conference of delegates of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union was held at Hamilton last night. Mr Kennedy (president) was in the chair. It was decided to severely censure the North Canterbury Centre for their action in not granting a permit to the Christchurch Cycle and Motor Club, and to request that a duly audited statement of the affairs of the centre be presented to the Council or affiliation be cancelled. Twenty-eight days was allowed in which to comply. The conference unanimously confirmed the action of the president in granting a permit to the Christchurch Club for a r meeting after it had been refused by North Canterbury. A further resolution was passed giving the Council power to suspend any centre or club not complying with an order or decision of the Council.' The next championship meeting and conference was fixed for Blenheim. Officers were elected as follows:—Patron, Mr. G. W. Wood (Invercargill); president, Mr Kennedy (Geraldine); vicepresidents, Messrs Duncan (Auckland), Clarke (Tamaki), and Callendar; secretary, Mr. Frazer; committee, Messrs. Gilfedder (Auckland) Fisher (Blenheim) Wilson (Greymoutli), Hansen (Eltham), and Mackay (Dunedin).
