TIMARU WOOL SALE
[per press association.], TIMARU, Feb. 1The third wool sale was hold yesterday. Nearly SOOO bales were offoied, and most of it was sold. There was a good attendance of buyers, antf competition was keen within certain limits for each mi'iety. The New Zealand woollen mills bought largely of the liner grades. Generally the wool was heavier in condition than at previous sales, and this affected prices. Malang allowances for the difference in condition the December prices were well maintained. Best ilialf-breds fetched up to 12 jd, good to lOlfd, medium 91<L three-quarter and crossbred, best to lOfd, medium to merino to lid, best pieces to 9d, medium to 7:kl. LONDON MARKETS. [UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT] LONDON. Jan. 31. At the tallow sales 724 casks were offered, and 363 were sold. Mutton, fine, brought 365, medium 335. Beef, fine, realised 3os, medium 32s del. At the wool sales a large selection of West Australian was offered, and was keenly competed for at recent rates. Crossbreds and' faulty merinos show considerable irregularity.
