RIFLE SHOOTING.
OVERSEAS CLUB. The executive of the local Overseas Rifle Club met last evening, when the secretary reported that he had reopened! negotiations with the defence authorities with ia view to obtaining registration of the Club. In connection with this it will be remembered that the headquarters staff took exception to the word “overseas” which the members desired to be included in the title of the Club to illustrate the fact that they were an integral part of the Great Overseas Club which is an Empire League formed to instil the principles of, and necessity for, self-defence throughout the Empire. Since- the last meeting the president, Mr J. R. Kirk, informed the secretary that he had accepted aj commission with the Boy Scouts and in consequence his active membership with the Club would cease. At the request of the committee and a number or members Mr D. J. Barry accepted the presidency of the Club, whilst Mr W. Cave was elected to tire committee, vice Mr Benzie, who has left the district. The reorganised executive now is: President, Mr D. J. Barry; committee, Messrs A. F, Lawrie ,S. D. Bunting, J. Johnstone and W. Cave; secretary, Mr C. J. Allen. Every effort will be made to push forward the formation of the Club, and the executive will be glad to get into touch with all members of the Overseas Club who have not yet joined the local branch.
