EGMONT MEETING. [per press association. 3 HAWERA, Feb. 7. The Egmont Racing Club were favored with beautiful weather for the opening day of the Summer Meeting. There was a good attendance, being slightly better than for the same day last year. The racing was of an interesting character. The sum of £11.907 was put through the tote, against £10,891 for the corresponding day of 1911. Hawera Stakes. —Manawahaka 1, St Petersburg 2, St Toney 3. Also started: Blakeney, Lady Menschikoff, Starboard. Pikitaepa. Won by a bare neck. Time 1.44 1-5. Whareroa Hurdles. —Black Northern 1. Euroco 2, Te Wlietu 3. Eiya also started. Won, pulling up, by three lengths. Time 2.46 4-5. Ohawe Hack Hurdles.—Silva 1, Rawinia 2, Silver Cluse 3. Also startel: Allure, Attention, Brilliancy, Clemency, Darby Paul, Cornelian, Forward. W T on by half a length. Time 2.50 1-5. Meremere Hack Flat.—Dirge 1, Galtee 2. Tobias 3. Scratched: Crown Pearl. Miss Roberts. Red Line. The Dodger, Sylvan Glade. Won by « Head. Time 1.13. Ladies’ Purse—Master Tupuhi 1, Ihe Child 2, Dragoon 3. Also started: Patronymic, Sunrose. Deemster, Loopline, Red Coral. Won by about a length. Time 1.47 2-5. Egmont Cup, 350 sovs, one mile and a half. —Bronze 1, Coromandel 2, Jargon 3. Also started: Mendip, Projectile, Goodwin Park. Kauroa. Sir Knox, Plantation, Royal Arms, Meremere, Uhlando. Won nicely by a length. Time 2.38 2-5. Flying Handicap. —Crown Pearl, Gladioli 2, Te Roti 3. Also started: Dearest. Labor Day, Red Lupin, and Overtime. Won comfortably by four lengths. Time 1-14 2-5. . "Waipapa Hack Flat. —Kgatirangui 1, Clemoes 2, Royal Dragoon 3. Scratched: Manawakaha, Epsom Downs, Moirette. Won by a neck. Time 1,29.
