DISTRICT NEWS.
WEDDING AT TE KARAKA. Manuel—. Gardner. A wedding of local interest took place at St. John's Church, Te Karaka, yesterday, the contracting parties being Mr. M. D. Manuel, a well-known Waihora sheepfarmer, and Miss Edna Gardner, only daughter of Mr J. H. Gardner of Wailiora Valley. The church had been prettily decorated by the friends _ of the bride, a noticeable feature being an artistically-made wedding bell of white flowers. Rev. T. A. Meyer officiated. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was becomingly attired in a beautiful dress of cream silk, and wore the orthodox wreath and veil. She was attended by Misses Veda Powell and Molly Gibson as bridesmaids, the former wearing a white lawn dress over pink with w r hite and pink hat, and the latter in a pale blue silk dress. Mill. Gardner acted as best man, and Mr Fairbank presided at the organ ._ Mrs Gardner, mother of the bride, wore grey silk with a mole-colored toque trimmed with cream plumes. Among the guests were Mrs A. M. Lewis, who white embroidered muslin, with blue and white hat; Mrs A. E. Gibson, black dress with large black hat trimmed with whitei roses, Mrs W. Powell, tussore silk, and Miss J. O’Dwyer, cornflower blue costume with grey hat trimmed with cornflowers. The couple left the church amid showers of rice, and the bridal party then adjourned to the residence of the bride’s parents, where the customary toasts were duly honored.
