FASHION NOTES.
After the present sales are finished and the shops have been again restored to tliir former trim appearance, it is anticipated that modes will be displayed in gowns, and also that millinery for the coming season, though smaller in shape, will posses a smartness quite its own. Large plain collars of the sailor and Quaker type will be much worn with the new tweed costumes. Lace ones will also be favored, though they are not quite so new as the plain muslin. Striking contrasts will he seen in all the most charming evening gowns, such as royal blue satin veiled with shell pink nion- Emerald veiled with vieux rose, grey, aluminium or black will be most effective colors. Day, gowns will be made mostly insoftest satin-faced cloths, chiffon velours in the most beautiful shades, and cashmere-de-soie-magyar effect blouses, with the accompanying skirt made with a box pleat or small knife pleats at the back are to be the fashion for autumn wear.
