A deputation of cricket enthusiasts asked Mr McGowen (Premier) to mediate between the Board of Control and the dissatisfied players. _ The Premier commissioned the deputation to inform both parties that he was willing to do any thing possible to secure a settlement of the dispute. Up to a late hour to-night none of the players had forwarded acceptances. The time-closes at midnight, but if the acceptances come to hand by to-mor-row morning's p- so tliey will be received. VICTORIA V, TASMANIA. DEFEAT BY ONE RUN. HOBART, Feb. 21. Tasmanian cricketers defeated Victoria bv one run. The visitors required 309 to win and were dismissed for 307.
