"\\ 11-kin son, ATcColl 3 MeBride, Fryer. GISBORNE TEAM ON TOURMAT AH El A DEFEATED. (From Our Special Reporter.) On arrival at Tokomaru Bay on Wednesday the Poverty Bay cricket team, now touring on the Coast, left almost immediately for Waipiro Bay, where they stayed on Wednesday night. The team made an early start yesterdav morning, and reached Matalieia station about 9 o’clock, where they were received 1 by Mr K. S. Williams, who extended unstinted hospitality to the members of the team. Play was commenced at 9.30 a.m., the home team going to the wicket first. They scored 112, W. H. Skitch, the well-knowu old! Dunedin player, putting in some fine batting and scoring 25 in good style. Tlie Gisborne team fared none too well at the commencement, and had S wickets down for 85. However a capital stand by McCliskv, who scored 1 30 not out, and Sheridan (24) added 35 for the last wickets.
The Coast team, in its second innings, scored 116 and at the call of time the town team had lost 7 wickets for* 82 runs. The team went on to Te Puia springs last night, and from there they will return tin's morning to Tokomaru Bay, where they will play Tokomaru to-day.
