REORGANISATION OF HARBOR BOARD STAFF.
RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE EN- - GINEER. AIR J. WITTY RETAINED AS TREASURER. ' The re-organisation of the , Harbor Board’s staff, a matter which was held over pending the appointment of the engineer-secretary, was commenced yesterday, when a report was received by the Board from Mr J. A. MacDonald, who was recently appointed to the position. The report was as follows:—“Since ;lm 19th inst., the date of my appointment, 1 have made myself generally acquainted with the works being carried on here, and shall now proceed to look into the detail working of every department. Pending the submitting of my report on the question of reorganisation, 1 would make the following recommendations :—(l) That from to-day Mr. Witty be relieved of the duties connected with the office of secretary. (2) That, pending my report on the question of re-organisation, Mr Witty continue to fulfil the duties of the offices he at present holds as treasurer, wharfinger, and rate-collector, and that without alteration of salary. (3) That cheques which at present are signed by the secretary, chairman, and a member, shall lutw carry the additional signature of the treasurer, and that the Union Bank be advised accordingly. (4) That the I nion Bank he officially advised of my appointment as secretary.” .'fhe report was adopted.
