BATHE PICTURES
The usual mid-week change of programme will be made by the Bathe Picture management, this evening, the chief item on this occasion being a drama, by the Biograph Company entitled “The Lonely Villa.” There is something spook-like in the title, but it- is said that the incidents are of decidedly material nature, and the story is intensely thrilling. The theme is drawn, from certain events which happen around a country villa about twenty miles from New York. The owner of the house is lured away by means of a false telegram and. “crooks” make an attempt to rob his home. The manner in which the thieves are frustrated forms the body of the story. Tliis memorable' feat of Thote. Wm. Burgess, who swam the English Channel a. few months ago forms the subject of another film, and herein the champion swimmer tells in actions how he accomplished his feat. The comic subjects are headed by a study entitled “Bill and bis Friend,” in which are related the adventures of a- bear at a fancy dress ball, while “Tontolini Stops Everything” finds this famous comedian in high feather. “BEAUTY AND THE BARGE.” The English comedy “Beauty and tee Barge”, which is to be produced in Gisborne at an early date, has createu widespread enthusiasm wherever it has been staged, and very heavy booking is expected for the Gisborne season.
