AUDACIOUS ADVENTURER.
“ DR.” .MILTON ABRAHAM. ASTO UNDING IMPOSITION. / THE POLICE ON HIS TRAIL. A lively hunt 2.? now in progress for “Dr.” Milton Abraham, alias Sir Harry W estwood Cooper, the notorious forger and bigamist, whose exploits are just now the talk of California. Abraham, or Chadwick, to give him his real name, is alleged to have contracted at least half a dozen bigamous marriages,’ his latest victim being a * Miss Milbrath, a hospital nurse, to whom he was wedded in Oakland less than a fortnight ago. C-hadwick not only wronged this young woman, but he also victimised her mother. After the wedding had taken place he approached Mrs Milbrath for a loan of £IOOO, representing that his mother had just died in Egypt, and had left him a fortune of £20,000. Chadwick said lie was urgently in need of an immediate advance, and on the strength of his tale Mis Milbrath gave him the money. Apparently there was no limit to Chadwick’s audacity, for it now turns out that just on the eve of the marriage with Miss Milbrath he was suing for the hand of Miss Daisy Claim, the Matron of a hospital, and begged her to marry hint only an hour before he led Miss Milbrath to the altar. The Oakland police believe that they have traced Chadwkick to Canada, and that his arrest is a matter of only a few. hours.
