FASHIONS IN THE SHOPS OF PARIS.
The hats of this season are abundantly trimmed. A novelty is to have a set of ear-rings and nedklace to match. Double-faced materials are used ft great deal for coats and skirts.. A new style in the evening slipper is the exeremely high pointed tongue of kid. The new necklaces and pendants show increased length and are lacy in effect. Wide side sabots are drawn out at the top of their full width and caught with a pin. The newest ones turn to the right and are without fullness. _ There seems to be no deviation from the straight, slender lines in dress. The rage for brilliant Oriental colouring is expressed in the new evening dresses. Blue in all shades ‘has acquired a decided vogue for handsome tailored ccostumes. Capes that are draped to make the figure narrow looking are popular as evening wraps. The new evening bcdiecs have square or pointed decelletages to take the place of the low straight 1830 style, large hat. Fringe is everywhereThere is a decided reversion to the Taupe is an iimneiisoly popular shade this season- . Many black velvet hats are trimmed with white. . . Embroidered belts are dainty and fashionable. 1 The reversible coat- is not- onty an accomplished fact, but a general favourite in silk and wool . , Silver and gold cloth slippers are at- { tractive and can be worn with gowns of any light order. Fashionable milliners are much dominated this, year by fur and velvet, used singlv or richlv combined. 14.;+ Now comes ' a reign of velvet-—it-places the crown of beauty and dignity within the reach of womankind.. Many long silk gloves are coming out—this'indicates that- the great stores expect a season of short sleeeves. There is a determined fad for white pique gloves— they have put the white, round seam gloves into the shade. Buttons —-huge and themselves of fui distinguish many of the season s small as well ° s large furs, and nearly every other scarf is buttoned.
