THE LABOR MEMBERS.
TO BE INVITED TO “LIBERAL” CAUCUS. THE PARTY’S ATTITUDE. The Labor members will be invited to attend the Government Caucus which is to be held a fortnight hence for the purpose of appointing a new Cabinet, but the Labor men may prefer to hold a separate meeting of their own. Should the Wardists desire to include a Laborite in 'the new Ministry the Labor party may probably insist on
choosing fdr itself which of its members shall be selected for the honor. Mr J. Robertson, the Labor member for Otaki, intends to address meetings in various parts of liis* electorate and t oexplain why he broke his election pledge to vote against the Ward administration.
Mr W. A. Veitch spoke guardedly this evening when lie was questioned as to the future attitude of the Labor party. “We are an independent party,” he said, “and very probably will co-operate with the Liberal element in the House. We have not attended any Liberal caucus. Tlie gathering this morning was not a caucus.” The Labor party, he added, had not yet come to any formal decision regarding its future attitude. .
