POVERTY BAY SHEEP DOG TRIAL CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Poverty Bay Sheep Dog Trial Club was held on Saturday, at the Ormond Hotel. Mr. J. A. Caesar presided. The annual report was as follows: In submitting a report of the operations of the club during till© past season, your committee has pleasure in congratulating members on the steady advance made by the club and on the increasing interest manifested in its welfare by station owners, shepherds, and the public generally. The trials last season may be considered highly satisfactory from a financial point of view, as will be seen from the balancesheet for the year submitted herewith. It shows -a. credit balance in the genera] account of £2l 5s Id. Included in this amount there is £l7 10s which was transferred temporarily from the Post Office Savings Ban’k to provide for payment of accounts pending the collection of moneys from the social and concert and from the siale of tickets,. The actual working profit for the year was £3 15s Id. The total receipts amounted to £133 12s 6d, nominations and entries being £4O 15s, donations £42 sjt 6d, social and concert, tickets ami'progra mines £lB 10s. The expenditure was £ll3 16s lid, of which £42 5s was paid 1 in cash prizes; social and concert £ls 4s, expenses of grounds, labor, etc., absorbing £l3 TBs. and other minor items comprising the' balance of the expenditure. The total assets of the club amount to £6l 15s Id, of which £4O 10s is in the Post Office Savings Bank, and there is a credit in the current account in the Bank of New Zealand of £2l Is Id, the remainder being 4s cash in hand. The thanks of the club are due to Mr. J. A. Caesar (president of the club), and also- to the committee for the keen and active "interest taken bythem in promoting the trials and for their material and personal assistance in carrying the trials to a- successful conclusion. Thanks are also due and tendered to all donors of special prizes and trophies. Special thanks are due to Mr- W. O. Rutherford, who is acknowledgecl to be the most capablejudge in the Dominion, for the honor of iliis visit at the last trials and for the services as judge which lie so generously rendered without remuneration. As null be seen, the .annual social proved highly popular and a great success, and the- pipers’ concert was also well patronised. During the year this club has affiliated with, the North Island Sheep Dog Trials Association. A A considerable- amount of correspondence has passed between the latter Association, and our club-, most of tibg matters referred to us having beejr dealt with. The dates fixed for this year’s trials are 23rd, 24th, and 2sith May, when it- is hoped that all Jmembors will heartily .co-cpcrate with 'the committee and the officers to make it a. thorough success and worthy of the premier club of this district. The members will be required to consider at this meeting all matters concerning remits, and the appointment of delegates and judges. All 1 business and remits to be discussed must be in the hands of the -secretary cf the North Island Sheep Dog Trials Association by May 9th, as the next meeting of delegates is to lie held at Takapu, Hawke’s Bay, on June 19th, 1912. It is recommended that the incoming committee take early steps to secure the grounds for the trials, as the delay in arranging for the- grounds last .year caused a- great deal of friction and considerably militated against the success cf the meeting. The reoort was adopted. Mr J. A- Caesar was re-elected as president, and the old committee was also re-elected.
