A BOON TO DAIRYFARMERS. AX AUTOMATIC CREAM SEP AKATOE, There is at present being exhibited at the ioc-al branch of Messrs Booth, MacDonald and Co-, Ltd., a handy little invention which should gladden the hearts of dairyfarmers. A Times reporter was privileged. To attend a trial of the new machine, which takes the form, of an automatic cream separator. This separator, which provides its own power, is essentially the machine for the dairyfarmer who still milks by hand ana adopts home separation, hut it is also a good proposition for those who already have power in their sheds, especially as it costs uo more, if as much, as the best- of the belt-driven or turbine separators now on the market. The automatic separator will separate, milk as fast a s five or six milkers can supply it, attains its normal speed in 15 seconds, and will separate 70 gallons per hour. Ther e are no gears in the separator, and only one bearing, which is a, roller frictionless, and easily lubricated. The saparator, being automatically governed, neither the quality of separation nor the density of cream can vary. The motor, which is a 4-cycle benzine engine .of something under ; 1 b.li.p., perfectly balanced, with throttle governor, is- cooled by a fan draught generated l by the fly-wheel, which adequately cools the engine, and is started by winding a cord round the flanged pulley on the flywheel, and pulling same off sharply, similarly to spinning a top, and just as' simply. The ignition is by dry cells, a ,net trembler coil, placed in b'as e of engine, protected from injury. Fuel consumption isi extremely small, the benzine ' tank holding about a quart, being sufficient to. run the outfit- for about five or six hours. When not separtaing the motor can he run free, to drive a force, pump, washing machine, or similar light service.
