POLICE ON THE TRAIL. DETECTIVE - MURDERED. [UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—-COPYRIGHT! PARIS, April 24. M- Jouin, Deputy Chief Detective, accompanied by M. Colmar, chief inspector, was searching Anarchists’ premises at Ivry in connection with the Rue Ordene’r outrage when Bonnot, a motor bandit-, fired at them with a revolver, killing Mr. Jouin and severely wounding Mr, Colmar. Bonnot- succeeded in escaping. AN ARTFUL ROGUEHOW THE MURDER- TOOK PLACE (Received April 26, 12.20 a.m.) .PARIS, April 25. Bonnot, through a- trapdoor in the ceiling, heard the detectives conversiug. Gouzy, an anarchist, is t-lie owner of the premises. He. denied to the. detectives that there was anyone upstairs, and wanted them to go and see if they liked. The detectives, utterly unsuspecting the presence of Bonnot, walked info his room.
After the shooting Bonnot- feigned death and while a third detective carried Mr Colmar downstairs, Bonnot. rail, into the kitchen, of a neighboring flat and threatened to shoot a woman if she raised the alarm.
He jumped to the roof of some outhouses and escaped. A trail of blood enabled the police to trace him for some distance. Tho populace, attempted to lynch Gouzy, who was rescued with difficulty. " The police have surrounded a wood at Vincennes, where they believe that Bonnot has joined his confederates.
